Crucial questions to ask a gift list supplier

Wedding Presents: House of Fraser Wedding Gift List

x

Arm yourself with these questions before setting up your wedding list

• When should I register my list?

It's important to register your gift list around 12 weeks before the big day. This will give the store time to put your list online, and mean that you can send out details with your invitations.

• How many items should I include on the list?

Always include more items on your list than you hope to receive. It's important to give your guests plenty of choice, so make sure there's a good price range too.

• Can I edit my list?

It's important to be able to make alterations to your list after setting it up. That way, you can add that beautiful lamp you've just spotted, or remove something you might have decided against.

• What happens if something I choose goes out of stock?

If your chosen china, for example, is discontinued between the day you set up your list and your wedding, you need to know what the store will do. You may need to choose something else but you certainly don't want to receive only part of a set.

• Can guests buy online, over the phone and in store?

The more choice your guests have, the better. Always let your guests know the different options - some will prefer the personal touch of buying in store to the convenience of buying online.

• Do you offer any perks?

Many gift list companies offer incentives to attract you to sign up. You might receive a store discount or vouchers towards your list.

• Will I be able to exchange items?

Chances are you might change your mind about a few of the gifts, or receive only part of a set and not want to buy the rest. Check whether you can exchange these items or swap for gift vouchers.

• Do you offer a gift wrapping service for guests?

This is probably more important to your guests than it is to you, but some guests do like to have a gift wrapping service and to be able to send you a personal message.

• When will the gifts be delivered to me?

It's important that you can set a date that's convenient to you - ideally when you're back at home after the honeymoon.

Do you charge for delivery?

• If delivery is charged for, it can add up, especially if more than one delivery is required. Be sure to read the small print before you sign up.
