These days, compiling a wedding gift list is essential. You dont want to run the risk of receiving ten toasters, however great they are! Nows the time to work out just what you would like to receive, and where you should place your list.
The traditional list
Traditionally, the bride and groom should put together a list of items theyd love to receive for their home. This list is held by the brides mother and guests wishing to purchase something should telephone her for a copy. When a guest purchases a gift, they will then contact the brides mother to cross it off the list.
Great for: Couples who arent set on receiving things from a particular store, and mums who are happy to be the organiser!
The department store list
Many couples opt to have their wedding gift list held at a department store. You simply visit your chosen store and put together a list of items you would love to receive. The major benefit of this is that you can choose exactly what you would like, and all the organisation is carried out by the store itself. Guests can often purchase online or in store making it easy no matter where they live.
Great for: Couples looking for a variety of items for their home, from bedlinen to furniture.

The gift company list
Similar to a department store list, these companies specialise in gift lists. The main benefit is that you can put together a varied list, with products from different suppliers from a classic Wedgewood dinner service to a contemporary piece of art!
Great for: Couples who already live together and are looking for unique items for their home.

When it comes to gift lists, the world is your oyster. Why not put together a wine wedding list, a list of plants and shrubs for your garden, or even a charity list?

The honeymoon list
If youre dreaming of a fabulous honeymoon but your budget doesnt quite stretch far enough, why not ask for honeymoon contributions for your wedding gift list? Guests could even buy particular treats such as dinner on the beach, or a diving trip.
